i always say you can't plan things and i always forget
wednesday
as a part of my course, I need to go out on basically an unpaid internship at a daycare every semester. This semester I have to conduct my research on power dynamics within friendship (particularly ones that are holding on by a thread, which is usually a mutual love for playing house). Thrice this semester someone will come and observe me, check in on my research, and talk to an assigned teacher at the daycare aka centre. Normally, you are given a week's notice before they drop by, and you are supposed to have certain documents ready, although it really just depends on who visits you. Last semester I had this lady with short white hair, glasses, and a stern look, and she always wore a rainbow badge, which I appreciated. I can't really be sure if this is accurate but for some reason I'm picturing her with a briefcase. She would have been even more menacing if she didn't have trouble pronouncing her r's, but maybe that's why she worked so hard to be taken seriously. To her credit, she was always on time, always communicative, and gave pretty valuable feedback. Also always typing something on her laptop. click clack click This time, I have someone who showed up this afternoon (just before I was supposed to go on my lunch...rip), without previously confirming with me. She apparently spoke to someone else at the centre (there is drama there because the world of a daycare teacher is not really that big, sorry) but someone dropped this very important centre-reputation-ruining ball, and no one was prepared for her visit. It went okay, I had all the documents I needed, serendipitously, fortunately. I walked home early and found 20 cents on some grass. My only real friend in this country is Tim (alias) from China and she dropped by after her unpaid internship to take us to grocery shop. Tensions were high because yesterday we disagreed with who should own Tibet. She thinks they don't need to be independent and while I might have cut her off for her questionable politics when I was in India, I can't really afford to lose my one friend. I like Tim. I finished checking out before she did and just watched the world go by in this sleepy town. Then I got home and made this blog. Hm. It's 10:06pm now, nearly my bedtime. Goodnight <3 sam
