but I did not laugh
I think I had a dream or sleepily confirmed a reality in which it was Wednesday and not Tuesday. So finding out the truth was slightly disappointing but it also means I have more time to collect data for my research.
This one child has been saying the most thought-provoking things. Last week we were talking about losing baby teeth. She told me she went to the dentist and got a filling. I asked her if it hurt. No, she said, they put me to sleep with laughing gas, but I did not laugh. I started laughing and looked up at something vacantly, amused. I looked down again at her and she was staring up through her eyebrows: It's real, you know. Of course, I reassured her that I know it's real and believe her, but I still couldn't help but laugh at the whole interaction.
Yesterday, we were reading about the most dangerous animals and in the book was a picture of two polar bears fighting. She sits back in her chair and sighs: the life of an animal is so hard. I ask, why do you think it's hard? Because they can't talk, she replied. I suppose she was thinking about how in daycare, we use our words and not our bodies when we fight. Poor polar bears, they couldn't just talk it out.
Well, I am off to have a day.
Bye :
